Opening weekend....

Amazingly enough, even with the late season opener of June 19 we're one of the first dirt tracks in Saskatchewan to start racing. 17 race vehicles made it out for one or both race days. Saturday started bright and sunny as they paraded thru the town. 4 heat races were in the books when the skies opened up, washing out the feature, mechanics and powder puff races (these will be made up on a TBA rain date). But not even the rain could could dampen the desire to smash something up, so the demo derby went on. A total of 10cars were entered, with Ryan Atkings taking top prize.

Next scheduled race weekend is the July 10 & 11.

Yes race fans, less than 13 sleeps till the season opener at Tisdale Motor Speedway. Once again Motor Madness Weekend kicks off Saturday, with the parade thru main street @ 10 am, then racing starts at 1 pm to be followed this year by our Annual Demo derby. Saturday's admission is just $10 for the day. On Sunday there's a pancake breakfast at the Tisdale airport, then another exciting day of racing starting @ 1 pm. Early reports are 1 new car and 1 new truck coming out this season, as well as 3 or 4 cars from other tracks attending the opening weekend. If you haven't bought your ticket yet for your chance to drive the TMS demo car, or the 50/50 draw, get hold of any track member. Demo car draw date is the 15th, and the 50/50 at intermission June 20th .

Due to the inclement weather the track clean/set up will be rescheduled to another weekend, at this point still T.B.A.

It is with much sadness, that we extend our sympathy to the family and friends of Shanon Slade on his passing April 7. His smiling face will be missed by all of us, whether it be in the grandstands or when exiting the cars from the driver ride alongs.

UPDATE:

Due to the first Sunday of April being Easter this year, our regular meeting will be moved to April 11th.

March 14, 2010

Next regular meeting April 4 at 2:00 pm. 96 days left till the season opener. Rumor has it Shane and Rick have shovelled the snow off their cars at least three times already this off season. The #77 just needs the improved power plant to be installed and its ready, the #27 however needs a little more TLC (after the 2009 final in Yorkton) before it gets its 2010 makeover.

February 7, 2010

The 2010 race schedule has been set, our annual demolition derby has been scheduled as part of the Motor Madness weekend June 19. Members of the Northeast Stockcar Drivers Association & Tisdale Motor Speedway wish to send out a BIG thank you to our fans and track sponsors, You are the reason we are able to keep coming back each year.

August 27, 2009

The weather co-operated and a full weekend of racing was held on the 22 and 23. Complete race results are not available at this time, however the total points standings have been updated. We look forward to seeing all the race fans out for our final weekend of racing on the 5 and 6 of Sept.

August 16, 2009

Due to the damp conditions this past weekend all race events were canceled and rescheduled to August 22 and 23 weather permitting.

August 2, 2009

A disappointing turnout of only 7 cars but some great action never the less. This years annual demolition derby was once a again supported overwhelmingly by the fans. Top prize went to Dustin Randall, second to Ryan Atkings, and third to Casey Randall. Ryan advanced to the final by winning the first heat, Dustin by winning the second heat, and Casey Randall and Rhett Turton were the top 2 cars in the consolation round, thus advancing them into the final.

The weather co-operated by holding off long enough to finish the final round, and allowing some of the fans to look over the remains of the cars afterward. A mechanics and ladies round was not held due to not having any cars remaining in running condition, The REAL sign of a successful demolition derby! Check out a few photos in the Pictures section. Tisdale Motor speedway would also like to thank the Tisdale fire dept for coming out on stand by in-case of any emergencies.

July 14, 2009

Another exciting weekend of racing action, we would like to thank the cars from outlook whom ventured to Tisdale for the weekend. The 50/50 draw was done during the intermission, and the lucky winner of $1214.00 was Joe Badiuk.

June 7, 2009

The season is under way, with the Test and Tune taking place today, and a total of 7 cars taking part. Casey Randall made his first run in the Street stock class. Ryan Atkings will be running the 12X in the Thunder stock class this season. Congratulations to #77 Shane James, who participated in the A&W Martensville 100 at Autoclearing Speedway in Saskatoon June 6th. He finished a respectable 10 place in a field of 26 cars, from across the province.

May 14, 2009

23 days till we’re back, Unfortunately Mother nature won the race in Swift Current, raining out Ryan’s season opener. Shane used the season opener in Saskatoon to test his race car, he was satisfied with the results for taking a untested brand new racecar to the track. A small altercation in the early laps of the feature forced him to the garage early with a broken brake line.

January 18, 2009

139 Days till the 2009 race season begins at the track.

A big thank you to Wendy Heibert for her years of track treasurer/secretary. We are pleased to announce the formation of a new race class, the “Tough Truck” class. A 150/1500 pickup series class, pretty much stock, low cost entry level race class. (rules to be posted soon).  All racers please check out the rules section as there have been a few subtle changes in each class, (thunders to be updated soon). Our final schedule has been posted as well.

Tisdale Motor Speedway is looking for any area youth clubs, groups or organizations, that are interested in doing some fund raising during this race season. Please send contact information to info@tisdalemotorspeedway.com for further details.

As well we will be doing a progressive 50/50 draw, starting very soon with the draw date on June 21st with a GUARANTEED minimum prize of $500.

This season will bring a field with some drivers having new cars & changing classes, other familiar faces in newly built cars, and rumor has it the two Yorkton cars might be bringing more racing buddies fulltime. Looking forward to another bigger and better season of racing. Drivers get ready to CRANK’EM UP!!!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS and the Best Wishes for the NEW YEAR to all, from everyone with Tisdale Motor Speedway and the Northeast Stockcar Drivers Association.

Aug 3, 2008
Next Racing action Aug 16 & 17.

Demolition derby results, heat one was won by Ryan Atkings in the #44 car. Heat two was won by Ken Wicks in the #12 car. Heat three was won by Dustin Randall in the #8 car. There was a 13 car turnout for the event. The 3 heat winners automatically advanced to the final. The remaining cars still functioning had a consolation qualifier event with the winner advancing to the finals as well. The #08 car advanced (name unavailable at this time).

The final seen some hard hits early, then with just two cars remaining and barely moving it was a contest to see who could keep their car running and make the last “bump".

Ken Wicks was the victor. Ryan Atkings 2nd, Dustin Randall 3rd. This years event had a 1st prize of $1000, 2nd $500, 3rd $200. As well as $100 per heat win. Two rookies entered this year, Rhett Turton in the #21 car and Jordan MacKinnon. Rhett had an engine compartment fire, and was out early. Jordan did well in his heat, with a second place finish. The use of the raffle car was won by Ashley Ashdown. Thanks to Moyen Honey Farms for the forklift, Bruce Schapansky Auctions for use of the bobcat, and to the Tisdale Fire Department for being onsite if needed. Hoping to have pictures on the website very soon.

July 15, 2008

DEMOLITION DERBY Aug. 2nd at 4pm.
Next racing Aug. 16th & 17th.

Weekend recap,  after some valiant ditching work, the track was in good shape for a Saturday evening of racing. First off pleased to announce that after a hard hit into the front stretch wall, Darlene Moyen was a little sore but uninjured. Due to a shortage of cars the mini stock class did not run. Midway thru the second Street stock heat the #3 of Glenn Randall lost an engine, and was done for the weekend. (That engine only had 15 racing laps on it). The #09 thunder stock of Ashley Ashdown made its first appearance of this year, and had a very respectable showing.

We are pleased to announce the two cars from Yorkton, #20 Rick Markham and the #40 Terry Heddon, are both registered members of the Tisdale Motor Speedway. Thanks for joining our club to both teams, its good to see a growing car count. Sunday had a little bit of everything, a short rain delay, then an extra 30 minutes of track drying before returning to the racing. The wet conditions kept the EAGLE TOWING tow truck very busy, if you left the racing surface, you pretty much had to wait for the truck.

July 6, 2008  --  The teams from the #07 Casey Randall, and the #27 Rick Schuurmans, traveled to Regina on July 5th to take part in the Kingspark Speedway 100 lap Street Stock Invitational. Neither driver has ever raced on pavement.

Casey had a very good debut, Qualifying 3rd fastest @ 19.71 sec. just 0.07 sec. out of second. However he had to settle for a 10th place finish after a busted ball joint, caused him to loose a number of laps in the pits. The results for the #27 weren’t near as good, having put a connecting rod thru the oil pan, while on just his 3rd practice lap.

June 30, 2008 -- Congratulations to Ryan Atkings and crew, on his first place finish in the Humboldt demo derby this past weekend.

June 20, 2008 -- Sorry for the delay in posting the results from the motor madness weekend.  Technical issues arose when I attempted to record the results for posting to the website, (I forgot the power pack for my laptop at home).

It was a great weekend of racing, a big thanks to the members of the Kingspark speedway of Regina, and the members of the Yellowhead speedway from Yorkton, who braved the wet weather earlier in the week and took a chance on coming up to race.  Thank you also goes out to Melody Motors and Ken Madraga for supplying the "official pace truck".

And of course the biggest thank you to the racers family members and the volunteers who helped out around the facility over the weekend.  Please browse the photo's that have been added to our site this past weekend.
